Qu4rtets

Qu4rtets

During a conversation at a Manhattan dinner party in 2009, several friends discovered that they all took deep enjoyment and inspiration from a common text: Four Quartets, a monumental poem acknowledged as one of the masterpieces of the twentieth century, by T.S. Eliot, one of the important voices of faith in the modern world. What resulted from that conversation is QU4RTETS, a unique multimedia collaboration, inspired by and in response to the epic poem. Sword & Spoon partners Makoto Fujimura and Bruce Herman, both acclaimed visual artists, created new works to accompany previous works inspired by Eliot’s poem. They teamed up with Yale composer Christopher Theofanidis, who wrote a four-part musical score for the project and theologian Jeremy Begbie for this collaborative exhibit that, with support from the Kingstons and Sword & Spoon, has toured nationally and internationally. In fact, during Holy Week 2015, the QU4RTETS paintings were displayed in Kings College Chapel at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
