CEO Kingston Offers Insight to Some of Best and Brightest College Students

Sword & Spoon Group Chairman and CEO John Kingston recently had the privilege of discussing career and life success with a group of impressive college students from around the country. John and good friend Pastor Hurmon Hamilton addressed students from the American Enterprise Institute’s (AEI) Values and Capitalism Summer Honors Program as well as the Institute for Responsible Citizenship, a program for highly talented African American students.

AEI’s Values and Capitalism Summer Honors Program selects about 50 top-performing Christian students from 33 different colleges and universities. They study with AEI scholars and other values and capitalism-affiliated professors. The students can choose to concentrate on the morality of democratic capitalism, or anti-poverty policy.

Other program speakers and topics included:

         Arthur Brooks (AEI), “Be Open Handed Toward Your Brothers”

         Charles Murray (AEI), “Democratic Capitalism and the Pursuit of Happiness”

         Kirsten Powers (USA Today), “Freedom of Expression”

         Stephen Smith (Gordon College), “Economic Growth”

         Brad Wilcox (AEI), “How Family Structures Success in America”

         Bethany Jenkins (The King’s College, The Gospel Coalition), “Career and Calling”

         Kevin Corinth (AEI), “The Homeless: Out of Sight and Out of Mind”

         Jay Richards (Catholic University, Discovery Institute), “How to Think Clearly About the Morality of Democratic Capitalism”
